I think many people who are buying ps4 are buying into the prospect of another possible golden age of PlayStation, people sense another ps2 era. And they want to be part of it. Lots of people, 360 fans and wii gamers were fond of the ps2

Well to be fair I heard that at the xbone launch Microsoft did offer similar services to their fans
However although the gifts seemed like they were free, they were actually behind a pay wall and fans had to pay extra for them
